Assistant Director Chris Vaz speaks to the mayors. On right is Buddy Young, Operations Director for Crowder Gulf.

Chris Vaz appeared in place of Director Tom Neff, who was unable to attend. Chris updated the mayors on the Division of Local Government Services, noting that problems with the division's online financial disclosure forms are being addressed, and that many questions respondents had are answered in the instructions. However, some of the trouble experienced involved the respondent's technology. On the hardware side, Vaz cited Mac and iPad computers. Troublesome software included the Google Chrome browser and certain Internet firewalls. He said that the process will be better next year.

Buddy Young, Operations Director for Crowder Gulf, who is directing waterway clean-up efforts in the wake of Sandy reported on progress so far. In the rivers, lagoons, and Barnegat Bay from the Navesink River to the Rt. 72 Long Beach Island bridge, he said, workers have removed 30,000 cubic yards of debris, including 48 boats, three cars and  three houses that washed into the bay near Mantoloking. Summer boating will be "pretty safe," he said, but warned that there will still be pieces of floating lumber and other potential hazards to watch for.
