Kerry provided a brief overview of DEP issues relevant to shore communities. Those issues included public access to beaches and emergency preparedness — particularly where intense storms are concerned. She stressed her availability to municipalities and urged that the state be consulted on local initiatives arising from extreme weather events. Kerry noted her association with Barnegat Bay Estuary and longstanding concern for the health of the bay. In a Q&A session, Kerry took questions about Long Beach Island flooding and beach erosion.
